Baby Names

One of the fun things about being pregnant, is picking out a name-or in our case, 2 names, since we don't know what we are having. With Henry, it was easy. I always wanted to name a son Thomas (after my dad and grandfather, and it's just a classic good name) but then married Jason THOMAS. And there was NO way I was going to do that to a kid. Thom Thomas. Tommy Thomas. Thomas Thomas. Nope. They all are just too cheesy. So, the next name that has been on my list, not as long as Thomas (Thom), but since I was about 13 years old, was Henry. And there you go. Once I had Jason convinced..."Jason, Henry Ford." It was all over. I won. :D PS. Jason's whole family are Ford fanatics. I have loved it for 2 reasons: 1. Elder Henry B. Eyring-my favorite modern day apostle. 2. Prince Henry on Ever After-go ahead and laugh at that one. (3.) I later found out, after we chose the name, that my favorite baseball player of all time, Lou Gehrig, is actually Henry Louis Gehrig, and just went by 'Lou.' So, it was fate.

This time, we can't even narrow it down to 2 boy names and 2 girl names. Looking at name lists just makes it worse. I just start thinking that there are TONS of really UGly or cheesy names. (Of course beauty is in the 'ear' of the beholder:) I cringe whenever I hear of someone naming a daughter something like Peyton/Payton, Stone, Skyler, etc...so sorry if you like those names. Go back to the beauty comment. I don't like yuppy boy names like Bradley or made up ones like Treyton. My neighbor just named their newborn son Enzo. It makes me think of Gonzo, or endzone. It's actually an Italian name, which would be cool if they weren't born pale, blonde, white, blue eyed and of English/Swiss?/German decent. But hey, he's their kid, and they like it. I'm sure that some of the names on our lists people will find stupid or ugly, so it all goes around. But we just can't find a name that we really like enough to give it to someone for the rest of their life.

Rory Jason does not really like this one. Bummer for me. And no, I never even watched Gilmore Girls, so it's not because of that. :)
Jordan my middle name. He doesn't really like this one either. Another bummer.

Sophie I liked this before I started hearing it everywhere in Movies, on tv, and baby's names. Now I'm just sick of it. Jason still really likes it though.
Inga Jason HATES this one. I like it in the way of Ethnic names. I think it sounds pretty and cool, how the 'ing' does its thing, while the g still gets to go ga. It's German, and I'm part German, so it works. Not gonna happen though.

Fredrick (Fred) Jason's favorite teacher was Fred Thomas in his 4th grade class. Jason now teaches 4th grade coincidentally. And who didn't love the character Fred in Harry Potter!
Casper/Caspar (Family name-German ancestor spelled it Caspar) And if your 1st thought was of a friendly ghost, that's because you're old. :) I had a crush on Devon Sawa too. :) But, Casper the cartoon was invented 60 years ago, and the movie came out 17 or so years ago, so kids growing up with a boy named that, wouldn't really know about it. Shoot, kids don't even know who Steve Urkel is nowadays.
Mikey I'm not the biggest fan of this one

Do any of those strike anyone in a good way? Is anyone even reading this? If not, at least I got to vent the name game frustrations.

Does anyone else's baby do this?

Henry does something I find strange and gross, and I was wondering if it's a normal baby thing, or if he's just odd. ;)
If he's already put something in his mouth to eat, and is chewing it, but sees me pull out something that looks tastier to him, he won't just finish chewing what he's already started and then go for the new thing. He reaches in his mouth (with both hands sometimes) and pulls out whatever is in there, no matter how mastigated it is already. Then he reaches for the new thing, even if it's something that I made for me. It is SO gross. Why doesn't he just finish chewing?
