Relief

It's never a good thing when a doctor/consultant says that they have 'medium worry' about your baby. This is what we were told 3 weeks ago at an ultrasound we had to do because our ob measured my belly larger than what it should have been. [info: out here most ob's send you to an ultrasound clinic where they specialize in it, and have the super machines that are the newest and most advanced in technology-with every visit you also get pictures, a cd and a dvd of the whole thing.] At the ultrasound (a few weeks ago), not only was he measuring large (only some of him), but the amniotic fluid was high. I'm leaving out other worrying details. Anyhow. One of the things they did was check me for gestational diabetes (again), even though they've tested me a few times an it keeps coming up negative. No sugar in the urine test, blood sugar levels completely normal with the finger prick, which is always so much fun. I'm thinking, 'man! I don't have it-leave me alone.'
At our ob appointment last week, our doctor says she wants to send us in again to check his growth and fluid levels to be safe. Goodbye to another $40 for copay and having the possibility of the results just causing more worry and anxiousness-grrr. Ok. But then she talks about how if he's still measuring large (bones-not weight necessarily-but weight was high too)then we might need to discuss alternative ways of delivery. She made an interesting face-which I can't describe; only show. Then she says, 'like a c-section.' My initial reaction was NO WAY! I do not want that sam-i-am. She said that if he's still large there's the worry of shoulder distocia. A c-section isn't the worst thing in the world, but if you can avoid it and deliver just fine-who wants to be cut open, have stitches and scars, extended healing time, and insurance bills for %20 of the delivery-not us! If our baby needs it to survive, then by all means. I just don't want to think about this 5 weeks before my due date. That's a lot of worry time.
So the title of this blog is 'relief' which Jason and I are feeling now. We had the doomsday ultrasound today and from their measurements, he's just fine. The amniotic fluid level is down to normal. He is proportionate. He is still measuring large-but like the doctor here said, it's an estimate. You can't know the exact measurements for sure until they are born. He said that he we shouldn't be pushed either way (c-section or induction) at this point because we've still got more time to go (32 days until the due date :). We both prayed before we went in today and I just felt a reassuring spirit and Jason felt something similar, but a little more direct. We both feel much better and just relieved. We had been trying not to worry, but that's pretty much impossible. I don't feel worried anymore though. Even if he does end up being pretty big, everything will be ok. Many people have delivered large babies, and if we do end up needing to have him born via c-section, at least we live in a time when we have that option. We are really blessed to be having a baby during this time when so much help is available. We just can't wait for our little prince to be born!
*The thing on the left side of his face is part of his hand (shadows just come out with 3'd pictures). This was a picture taken today.

Music

I wish I knew how to put music on my blog. I'm not even sure what songs I would put on here, but I want to have a song. It makes it so much more fun to look at stuff when there's music there. It gives the page more personality I think. Some blogs have really annoying music though and I stopped going to such people's blogs because the stuff they called music, I couldn't stand to listen to. On the other hand, I go to Robyn's blog sometimes when I've already read it just to listen to the music while I do other things. :) I'm actually listening to her blog music right now while I'm posting on mine. hehehe Does anyone else do this?

Oh Henry...

The past two weeks have gone by SO slowly for Jason and I. Normally this time of year goes by so quickly, but being 34 1/2 weeks pregnant now is not helping this. We have another appointment with the ob today and have been looking forward to it-perhaps just because it makes it feel that much closer to having our baby. We also get to hear his heartbeat and ask her questions and we love that.
I'm at the point when I'm just ready to not be pregnant anymore. I think Jason is ready for this too. All of you who've been through this know exactly what I mean. Poor Jason, he tries to help so much and just gets frustrated when he can't do anything to stop Henry from moving around like he has room, while I'm trying to sleep or when we're being romantic (it kinda kills the mood). I'm surprised at how much he STILL tries to move around. Jason made me laugh about it though while talking on the phone during his lunch break. All of a sudden I yelped because Henry decided to stretch his whole body out or something. It was painful. I had his hands shoving my bladder and his feet kicked my ribs and also what felt like my lung, while his back pushed the skin/uterus/muscles of my belly further than it seemed to want to go, in one quick moment. Jason was worried and asked if it was another contraction. I just said no, that he was just trying to knock out the walls of my one-room apartment style womb to make a 4 bedroom 3 story house. He responded "jerk." That took me off guard and maybe it shouldn't have made me laugh that he called our innocent baby a jerk, but it did.
Well, just a little bit more to go until we get to hold our little boy! Despite the difficulty of pregnancy, we know it will be worth it!
